The Mediterranean Journalists Association, organizer of the 9th Mediterranean Women Journalists’ Forum, to be held in November 2024, has achieved first place in the “Futura Call. Puglia for Equality,” an initiative promoted by the Puglia Regional Council.
The public call aims to support cultural projects that address and help understand gender inequality, contributing to the deconstruction of social stereotypes. The call aims to support organizations primarily composed of women, working through a variety of cultural activities such as dance performances, theater, concerts, workshops, seminars, exhibitions, festivals, and artistic residencies. Proposals must promote gender equality and respect for diversity.
The second edition of the call received hundreds of applications, funding the selected proposals up to a maximum of € 3,000 each. The Library and Institutional Communications Section of the Puglia Regional Council, responsible for evaluating the applications, awarded our project 67 points based on criteria such as cultural relevance, concreteness of the activities, timeline, previous experience in the sector, and budget congruence with the proposed activities. This score placed us first in the ranking.
The € 3,000 contribution is not enough to fully cover the event’s expenses, but we are nevertheless pleased that the initiative was deemed an effective proposal for promoting a culture of gender equality and equity.
